Truth and Reconciliation Statement

The Learning Networks of Ontario (LNO) acknowledge that our work, and the work of Get SET/Get PRET service providers throughout the province of Ontario, take place on Indigenous territories.  We are committed to supporting First Nations, Inuit and Métis adult learners in the communities we serve.  LNO commits to building equitable spaces for Indigenous staff, partners and community members.  We commit to ending systemic inequities in adult literacy faced by Indigenous communities in Ontario.  We work towards upholding Truth and Reconciliation in the following actions.

We Commit to Truth

We acknowledge that Indigenous Peoples have suffered under colonial policies and continue to experience intergenerational trauma impacting Indigenous communities. We believe that to foster welcoming spaces for Indigenous learners, staff must be intentional about their knowledge and understanding of our shared history.  We commit to ongoing education and training for the programs we serve.

We Commit to Reconciliation

Call to Action 7 - LNO commits to develop literacy curriculum and skills assessment tools that are accessible and culturally relevant towards eliminating educational and employment gaps between Indigenous and non-Indigenous adults.

Call to Action 10(i) - LNO commits to creating accessible, welcoming spaces that are based on equality and mutual respect.  These spaces hope to improve education attainment levels and success rates for Indigenous adults transitioning to further education, employment or independence goal pathways.
