Explore Partnership Opportunities with the Learning Networks of Ontario (LNO)

We invite organizations and employers to explore partnership opportunities that strengthen our shared system.

Together, we can align strategies, share insights, and build stronger bridges between learning and work. This creates lasting benefits for individuals, communities, and the provincial economy.

LNO Builds Provincial Partnership for Skills and Success

We bring together diverse community organizations, Employment Service partners, Get SET service providers, and workforce development partners who share a common goal.  This goals is to help individuals strengthen the essential skills needed for success in work, education, and daily life.

The 2023 federal evaluation of the Literacy and Essential Skills Program found that Skills for Success training (including union and workplace projects) improves participants’ foundational skills.  It also improves labour market outcomes and recommended stronger employer/union engagement plus better measurement of skills gains.

LNO Connects Ontario’s Education and Workforce Systems

The needs of individuals, communities and employers are deeply interconnected.  Meaningful progress depends on an integrated approach.  We serve as vital connectors, bringing together interest-holders and partners involved in workforce development, lifelong learning and community well-being.  Together, we create pathways that link education, training and employment opportunities.

A 2025 report from the Union‑Led Advisory Table (page 6) calls for a union‑led workplace literacy and essential skills strategy developed with adult literacy practitioners, including piloting new union–literacy partnerships.

Evaluation of the Literacy and Essential Skills Program 2023 points to a continued need for worker‑centred, union‑involved literacy and essential skills programs.  This is especially true for under‑represented groups and workers in changing, high‑risk jobs.

LNO Strengthens Adult Skills through Coordination and Collaboration

We play a central role in coordinating and strengthening adult skills upgrading programs across the province.  These programs, called Get SET (Skills, Education and Training), provide the foundation for all learning and workforce development.  They help adults build the essential skills they need to take the next step.  This could be pursuing further education, entering the workforce or participating more fully in their communities.  Through collaboration with partners, Get SET contributes to individual empowerment, community resilience and Ontario’s economic vitality.

“Strong partnerships between government, industry, and academia are essential to closing skills gaps and driving sector-specific growth.  As emerging technologies transform business operations, it is critical to prioritize workforce development to ensure Ontario’s labour force remains agile and competitive in a rapidly evolving economy” (Ontario Chamber of Commerce's report Workforce Development Will Fuel Our Future”).
