Apprenticeships/Trades
We provide a coordinated, province‑wide bridge between the trades sector, including Skilled Trades Ontario, and more than 300 Get SET programs who prepare and support apprentices. As a coalition of 16 regional networks, Learning Networks of Ontario (LNO) helps align local Get SET service providers around apprenticeship needs. This makes a large, often invisible pipeline of trade‑bound learners visible, coordinated and ready for sector‑specific training.
By partnering with LNO
- apprenticeship partners gain streamlined access to learners who are building the literacy, numeracy, and digital foundations required for entry and in‑training success,
- apprenticeship partners can also connect to a trusted infrastructure for joint projects, shared resources, assessment services and just‑in‑time upgrading that can be delivered flexibly across regions and online
- employers can get connected to Get SET programs to coordinate on-site or blended upgrading
- employers can also connect to practical resources like the Apprenticeship Readiness Inventory (ARISE), employer resource hubs and step‑by‑step navigation tools that make it easier to hire, register, and retain apprentices
For example, the ARISE project (Literacy Link South Central) partners with employers and apprentices to identify hidden literacy and numeracy gaps and provide targeted supports, helping more apprentices progress and get to completion.
