The Learning Exploration Tool (LET)
In adult education, we often work with people that have been out of school for quite some time and are not sure of their skills. There are also a lot of choices for adults who would like to upgrade their skills – skills upgrading, credit classes, short-term training, apprenticeship, post-secondary programs, etc. This can be a bit daunting to navigate.
Learning Networks are connector organizations. They work with community partners and community members to help them find the program that is best suited to them and their goals. One tool that helps us to that is the Learning Exploration Tool or LET.
The LET is an educational interview tool that
- gathers information about the person’s goals, education and work history and learning preferences
- incorporates a learning challenges pre-screen as well as checklists for specific learning challenges and an area to include some learning strategies that might be helpful
- results in a learning pathway plan to help clients/learners reach their goals
